Dr. Ahmad Ali is a Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. His academic and scholarly work spans Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, fiqh, Islamic law, theology, Tasawwuf, Hadith, Sirah, governance and contemporary Muslim thought.
He began his professional career in Islamic education before joining the University of Chittagong as a lecturer in 1996. Over the following decades he progressed through the academic ranks and has served as Professor since 2008. He also served as Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies from 2015 to 2016.
His scholarly output includes research books, Bengali and Arabic research articles, edited publications and translation work. He has also supervised doctoral and MPhil research and has been associated with academic, legal-research and Shariah-related institutions in Bangladesh.
